Abstract

In the world of nursing, provide motivation is one way to facilitate Clinical Instructor (CI) when approaching students clinical practice in order to reach the destination on time. It should be emphasized that the guidance clinic by Clinical Instructor can be declared a success in the clinical learning process where students can practice to reach the target competence in performing clinical practice. Provision of this motivation can be done by the method of ARCS (Attention, Relation, Confidence, Satisfaction) that will affect the achievement of student competence in carrying out clinical practice . The aim of this research is to find out The relation of giving external motivation from Clinic instructor with target of competence of child nursing clinic practice on nursing student batch 2012 at Nursing study program, faculty of medicine, diponegoro university. This is a quantitative research with non-experimental design. This research used cross sectional approach. The population of this research is all of the batch 2012 student as much as 117 people. Random sampling technique is use to collect sample from 59 respondents. The result of validity test, 46 of this questions have value more than rtabel (0,361). The results of this study suggest a link between the provision of external motivation of clinical instructor with the achievement of the competence of nursing clinical practice children with p value 0,045≤α(0,05).Researchers suggest clinical instructor further enhance the skills and competence in conducting clinical guidance and can motivate students to assist in the achievement of competence.
