Abstract

ABSTRACT Widyanissa, Mutia Andika. “Reader Response to a Short Story “Remon” by Kajii Motojiro (a Case Study of 20 Bachelor Degree Students of Year 2014 Japanese Department in Faculty of Humanities of Diponegoro University)”. Thesis.Japanese Department of Faculty of Humanities.Diponegoro University. The advisor is Zaki Ainul Fadli, S.S, M.Hum. This thesis research is mainly about literary reception. Literary reception is a study of reader response to literature. The thesis applies a field research regarding to the data that has been collected from the field sources related to the research object. The research targets 20 exact Bachelor degree students of year 2014 Japanese Department in Faculty of Humanities of Diponegoro University. A short story Remon is used by the writer as an object of the research. As for the formal object is the reception and elements included in the short story Remon, and the reader response to the story. The intrinsic element is used to find out the reader response in understanding the short story. The research is executed by sociological approach of literature that includes conception element, uses, and influence in reading literary works. The results to be achieved in this research is to know how much respondents understanding of the short story “Remon” and to see the reception of respondents to the elements of the short story structure builder.
