Abstract

The First Advisor Fajria Noviana, SS, M.Hum. The Second Advisor Budi Mulyadi, S.Pd, M.Hum. Nowadays manga-ka (manga authors) and the result of his work are well-known both inside and outside of japan. One of the famous work of manga-ka is Byousoku Go Senchimetoru (5cm per second) by Shinkai Makoto. Beside on that manga researcher feel that the title and content of the story there is no relationship. Because of it purpose of this research is to analysis meaning of the title of that manga and its relationship to the story. The method used in this research is descriptive-qualitative study of literature. The analytical theory used in this research is the theory of structural semiotic approach. Structural theory is used to analyze elements of manga builders in the form of theme, character, setting, plot, and mandate. Semiotic approachment is used to analyze the meaning of the code and sign in the object of this study were as icon, index, and symbol. The result of this research is, meaning of the title of this manga is a symbol of human life which interpreted by sakura. The meaning of the relationship with the content of the story portrayed through the actions of the main character in the search for happiness.
