Abstract
Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian yodium di dalam air minum terhadap laju metabolisme dan konsumsi oksigen burung puyuh betina. Materi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah puyuh betina(umur 4 minggu) sebanyak 100 ekor.Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 5 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Perlakuan yang diberikan adalah T0 : tanpa yodium; T1: 0,2 ppm yodium; T2 : 0,3 ppm yodium; T3 : 0,4 ppm yodium;T4 : 0,5 ppm yodium dalam air minum. Parameter yang diamati meliputi laju metabolisme dan konsumsi oksigen.Data yang diperoleh dilakukan analisis ragam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan yodium berpengaruh sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap laju metabolisme dan konsumsi oksigen. Penambahan yodium pada T1 (dosis 0,2 ppm) menyebabkan berbeda dengan pelakuan lain, dimana rataan laju metabolisme pada T0, T1, T2, T3, T4 berturut-turut sebesar 213,99 kal/kg0,75/hari; 148,22 kal/kg0,75/hari; 204,08 kal/kg0,75/hari; 195,63 kal/kg0,75/hari; 231,08 kal/kg0,75/hari dan rataan konsumsi oksigen berturut-turut sebesar 9,24; 6,37; 8,87; 8,96; 10,03 liter/ekor/hari. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa penggunaan yodium dosis 0,02 ppm dalam air minum dapat menurunkan laju metabolisme dan konsumsi oksigen puyuh betina. Kata kunci :puyuh betina, yodium, laju metabolisme, konsumsi oksigen Abstract This research was conducted to study the influence of iodine inclusion in drinking water on metabolism rate and oxygen consumption of female quail(Coturnix coturnix japonica). The matter consist of 100 quails four weak old. This research used completely randomized design with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments were T0 (without iodine); T1 (0.2 ppm iodine); T2 (0.3 ppm iodine); T3 : (0,4 ppm iodine); and T4 (0,5 ppm iodine) in drinking water. The parameters were oxygen consumption and metabolism rate. The result shown that iodine administration (0,2 ppm) in drinking water influenced (P<0.01) on metabolism rate and oxygen consumption. The average of metabolism rate of T0, T1, T2, T3, T4 each are 213.99 cal/kg0.75/day; 148.22 cal/kg0.75/day; 204.08 cal/kg0.75/day; 195.63 cal/kg0.75/day; 231.08 cal/kg0.75/day and the average of oxygen consumption each are 9,24; 6,37; 8,87; 8,96; 10,03 liter/day. The conclusion of this research was iodine administeration 0.02 ppm in drinking water decreased metabolism rate and oxygen consumption of quaile (Coturnix coturnix japonica).
