Abstract

Background: Myocardial infarction is one of the most disease causing death. Myocardial infarction may occur due to prolonged ischemia to cardiac muscle. One indicator of myocardial infarction is CKMB. There is a brief and transient ischemia of an organ before myocardial infarction which can protect the heart muscle from damage called RIPC. Objective: To determine the effect of RIPC on CKMB levels of rat after myocardial infarction. Methods: True experimental research with randomized posttest only control group design. 21 male Wistar rats were divided into 3 groups: control group (K), the group RIPC 3x5 minutes group (P1), and RIPC 3x15 minutes group (P2). The three groups were injected with isoproterenol to induce myocardial infarction. CKMB levels were measured using a spectrophotometer. Statistical test using One Way ANOVA test and Post Hoc LSD test. Results: The average CKMB levels were 217.29 U/L in control group, 224.57 U/L in 3x5 minutes RIPC group, and 141.14 U/L in 3x15 minutes RIPC group. Post Hoc LSD test showed different levels of CKMB in control group and RIPC 3x15 minutes RIPC group(p = 0.022) and there were no differences in levels of CKMB in the control group and 3x5 minutes RIPC group (p = 0.873). Conclusion: There are differences in the levels of CKMB between Wistar rats P2 group with K group. There were no differences in levels of CKMB between Wistar rats P1 group with K group. Keywords: RIPC, Myocardial Infarction, Isoproterenol.
