PERBEDAAN INDEXERITROSITPADAPASIEN ANEMIA GAGAL GINJAL KRONIK DANTHALASSEMIAMAYOR

Abstract

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD)and thalassemiapatients werehaving microcytic and hypochromicanemia. Some erythrocyte indexcould be used for thalassemiascreening parameters, such as Mentzer Index(MI), RBC distribution width index(RDWI), Hisham Index(HI) dan Hameed Index(HA). Aim: To prove thedifferenceoferythrocyte indexbetween CKDand thalassemiapatients. Methods: Observational analytic with cross sectionalapproach. Samples were 40 Thalassemiapatients and 40 CKD patients. Complete Blood Count(CBC) data were determined by hematology analyzer which then countedinto MI, RDWI, HI, dan HAformula. Independent T testwere used as statistical test. Result: The mean ofMI on CKD was 28,03 and on thalassemiawas 20,24.The mean ofRDWI on CKD was 399,64 and on thalassemiawas 402,01.The mean ofHI on CKD was 132,39 and on thalassemiawas 138,49.The average HAon CKD was 14,37 and on thalassemiawas 23,8.There was asignificant difference of MI (p=0,00)and HA (p=0,01). There was no a significant difference of RDWI (p=0,917)and of HI (p=0,448). Conclusion: There were significant difference of MI and HA indexes between thalassemiaand CKD patients. There were no significant difference of RDWI and HI indexes between thalassemiaand CKD patients. Key words: CKD, Thalassemia, erythrocyte index.
