Gambaran Pola Asuh Makan Orangtua pada Anak Usia Sekolah dengan Berat Badan Berlebih

Abstract

Overweight and obesity on school-age children (6 – 12 years old) is a serious matter because it may continue until their adulthood and brings disadvantage to the quality of their lives. Parental feeding style, based on the types of parenting can be divided into 3 types; authoritative, authoritarian, and permissive is one of the factors that affects the nutritional status of the child obesity. The research aims to study the description of parental feeding style school-age children with overweight and obesity. This research was done on the children at SD Islam Hj. Isriati Baiturrahman 1 Semarang which has the nutritional status of overweight and obesity based on IMT/U on July 2016. Descriptive research is used as the method on this research. The sampling technique that is used is proportionate random sampling with total 208 respondents. This research shows that; most respondents as many as 177 respondents (85,1%) apply authoritative parenting type. Overweight and obesity in children of parents who apply authoritative parenting is possible because the child is allowed to consume fast food and encouraging milk as a food supplement, in addition to physical inactivity thus causing accumulation of fat excess in children. Based on the research results is advisable for parents to not give fastfood, milk consumption is not excessive and balance the physical activity of children.
