Abstract

Background : Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a complex autoimmune disease characterized by the presence of autoantibodies against cell nuclei and involve many organ systems in the body. Clinical manifestations of SLE dependent organ involved, can involve many organs in the human body with a complex clinical course, vary widely, and can be characterized by acute attacks, active period, restrained or remission. Several previous studies showed the prevalence of depression in patients with LES is, among others, 11.5% - 47% and showed a tendency of depression increased with increasing disease severity SLE. Aim : Knowing the inclination incidence of depression and its relationship to SLE disease activity in the dr. Kariadi Hospital, Semarang. Methods : This study was an observational analytic study with cross sectional case study type. Samples were SLE patient who ambulatory at dr. Kariadi Hospital, Semarang of May 2016 period. Data were collected using a questionnaire. Data were being tested statistically with Spearman correlation test. Results : The relationship between SLE dissease activity with the incidence of depression was a positive tendency with the strength of the correlation was very weak. Besides there were five most influential components to the tendency of the incidence of depression in patients who ambulatory at dr. Kariadi Hospital, Semarang. Conclusions : Most SLE patient (67%) had moderate disease activity level, SLE patient with depression in small quantities (23,3%), and there was a positive correlation between disease activity level with the tendency of depression incidence with the strenght of the correlation was weak and not significant.
