Abstract

ABSTRACT This investigation was conducted to study the influence of feeding sugar cane top processed by amofer (combination between ammoniation and fermentation) technology as ration component on Peranakan Ongole (PO) cattle performance. Sugar cane top processed by Amofer technology in pellet form and 20 heads of yearling male PO cattle where used as experimental material. The experimental cattle were divided into five groups. Each group consist of four heads as replication. The first group was fed forage and concentrate. Forage portion of ration in group II, III, and IV were replaced by processed sugar cane top on level 25; 50 and 75%, respectively, whereas all of forage portion in fifth treatment group were replaced by processed sugar cane top. Result of this investigation showed that increasing of processed sugar cane top in ration (up to 75% of forage portion) enhanced (P<0.05) the average daily body weight gain (up to 0.85 kg/day). Further more enhanching of processed sugar cane top proportion in ration (up to 100% of forage portion) did not increases daily body weight gain, but tend to decreased (as low as 0.7 kg/day).
