Abstract
ABSTRACT Rohmadoni. ‘Analisis Semantis Idiom Bahasa Jepang yang Memakai Bagian Tubuh Kaki’, Thesis Department of Japanese Studies Faculty of Humanities. Diponegoro University, The first advisor Drs. Surono, S.U. The second advisor, Elizabeth I.H.A.N.R., S.S., M.Hum. This research observes the idiom which use part of body’s leg in Japanese language. It aims to define the relations between lexical meanings of the Japanese idioms that have the lexeme leg in their structure and their structure idiomatic meanings. It also seeks to explain the changes of meaning of the lexeme leg when used in an idiom in the Japanese language. Analysis is carried out first by classifying the data based on their syntactic structures, then on relations of their lexical meanings and idiomatic meanings. Furthermore, the data will be categorized based on the changes of their meanings. The study concludes that (1) idiom is ;(2) there are four syntactical structures of Japanese idioms using organ term ashi ‘leg’ namely: ashi + ga + V, ashi + ga + Adj, ashi + ga + N + ni + V, ashi + wo + V; (3) there are five idiom classifications concerning how their lexical meanings relate to their idiomatic meanings, namely: conditions, a degree, value; a sense, feeling; society, culture, life; the body, character, behavior; an act, movement, and action.
