Faculty of Humanities. Diponegoro University. Semarang.This thesis is analyzing Mahou Hakase short story by Iwaya Sazanami which is contained on “Japanese Children’s Literature Anthology” book. The book was published on 2010. This short story is telling us about an agreement that has been made between a man named Genko Sensei and the demon. The purpose of this thesis is to answer the main problem. The problem is how is the personality structure of the main character Genko Sensei on that short story. This thesis is using Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalysis theory to analyze the character of Genko Sensei. The theory has been used because it can analyze the personality structure of the main character completely and correspondingly. The result from the theory is Genko Sensei has Id as his dominant personality structure and superego as a weak one. Those were caused by the trauma of being poor on his childhood life.
