Abstract

Job seeking periode is a problem that is often be found, where the educated workforce has difficulties in finding a job. The number of high educated population in Semarang City increase from 1,405,889 inhabitants in 2010, up to 1,446,229 inhabitants in 2013. However, a successful increase of education in Semarang City is not rateable by a decrease in the ratio of unemployment. The population of the unemployed of primary school graduates is 2.30% and increasing to 13.72% for the unemployed of academic graduates. Which means, that the higher the education level, the ratio of unemployed according to education are also higher so that the waiting periode for job seeker is also high. The educated unemployment problem occurs because an educated workforce has high expectation about the work environment. This research was held in the banking sector, since the banking sector can potentially improve the economy of Semarang City. If the economy in the banking sector increased, an employment opportunities for the educated unemployed will also increase. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of variable income, work experience, and skills towards job seeking periode for educated labor worker in the banking sector in Semarang City. This research use multiple linear regression analysis (Ordinary Least Squares) for the analytical method. The data is primary data, obtained through interviews using a structured questionnaire filled out by workers in the banking sector. Regression analysis showed that, overall, the independent variables (income, work experience, and skills) affecting job seeking periode. The value of adjusted R2 is 0,349 which means that independent variables are able to explain 34.9 percent of the variation of job seeking periode. While 65.1 percent of the rest is explained by other variables outside the model used. Variable income is positive and significantly affect on job seeking periode in Semarang City. Variable work experience is negative and significantly effect on job seeking periode in Semarang City. Variable skills is negative and significantly affect on job seeking periode in Semarang City.
