Abstract Fikroh, Inaqotul. 2016. “The Main Character of The Short Story Shigatsu No Aru Hareta Asa Ni Hyaku Paasento No Onna No Ko Ni Deau Koto Ni Tsuite by Haruki Murakami”. Thesis, Department of Japanese Studies Faculty of Humanities Diponegoro University. The First Advisor Zaki Ainul Fadli, M.Hum. Second Advisor Nur Hastuti, SS, M.Hum. In this thesis, the witer analyze the short story titled shigatsu no aru hareta asa hyaku paasento no onna no ko ni deau koto ni tsuite which is included in the short story compilation titled Zou no Syometsu by Haruki Murakami published by Shinchosa in 2005. This short story tells about the encounter of a Boku with a girl whom he consider as a perfect girl when he met her in a street of Harajuku. The purpose of this study is to answer the main problem which is how is the character of the main role “Boku” in the story. In analyzing the character “Boku”, the writer used the theory of fiction characteristics namely telling and showing according to Minderop Albertine. Both methods are used because it can analyze the main character in detail and meticulously. The results obtained from the methods are that character “Boku” is easy going, mature, low self- esteem, a dreamer, a loner, irrational, pessimist, fearful, much consideration, hesitant and romantic. In addition, to determine the relationship between the character and the intrinsic elements of the story, the writer also use structural approach by Nurgiantoro. From that structural approach, we know that the element developing the short story of shigatsu no aru hareta asa hyaku paasento no onna no ko ni deau koto ni tsuite are as follows, the theme of this short story is regret; the plot of this short story is the thought of dissapoinment; the setting of the story is in the morning, in a spring time on April in 1981; The point of view contained in the story is first person as a main character; the moral value in this story is that the perfection of man is not measured by physical appearance and the most important thing is the courage to fight for the person we loved no matter what happened.
