ANALISIS SYAIR DALAM KESENIAN TRADISIONAL DOLALAK: SEBUAH KAJIAN ANTROPOLOGI LINGUISTIK

Abstract

This study is about the analysis of rhymes found in Dolalak, a traditional dance of Purworejo regency. The first aim of this research is to find out the principle characteristics of dolalak rhymes, the second aim is to find out their values, and the third aim is to describe the study of dolalak rhymes on the linguistic anthropology point of view. In writing this research, the researcher uses library research in which the writer collects data, data sources, and supporting data. In this research, the researcher uses four data sources. The first data source is a book entitled “Dari Saerelela ke Rumah Jawa Pantun-Pantun Cinta Versi Dododolalala...aaaak” written by Insan. The second source is a book from Dinas Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan of Purworejo Regency entitled “Materi Pembelajaran Kesenian Khas Kabupaten Purworejo Tari Dolalak”. The third data source is the collection of dolalak rhymes written by Tjipto Siswoyo, the leader of Dolalak Group “Budi Santoso”, and the fourth data source is a dolalak VCD entitled “Group Dolalak Dadi Harum”. The data of this research are 48 rhymes taken from the four data sources by using purposive random sampling. While in analyzing the data, the researcher uses linguistic antropology approach focusing on its three theoritical areas, namely performance, indexicality, and participation. The result shows that the principle characteristics of rhymes found in dolalak have a close relationship with Indonesian traditional poetry, namely pantun. This is influenced by the historical background. Moreover, there are more variations of rhymes found in dolalak than in pantun. In this case, it’s related to linguistic relativity that says every language is different, and every language is unique.
