Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the language use in advertisement in radio by using sociolinguistic aspect, especially the advertisement using two different languages. Those are Javanese and Indonesian. The researcher uses descriptive qualitative method to conduct the research. The data were gotten from radio’s commercial break in Pekalongan by using nonparticipant observation technique to get the data which is the researcher just observed the people talking each other, recorded, and note. The analysis was conducted by using sociolinguistic aspect that is dialect, code mixing, speech level, and language variety. There are 12 advertisement data. The results of this research show that almost all of the advertisements use Javanese with Pekalongan’s dialect, use code mixing in some certain terms. Some of the advertisements didn’t use speech level (undha-usuk) from Ngoko Javanese to Krama Javanese, the language variety is casual and intimate which is shown in daily language
