Abstract

One of the plants that have the potential to be used as alternative fuel producer is nyamplung plant (Callophylum inophylum). Nyamplung plant has the potential to produce nyamplung seed oil, especially old seed. Oil content in the nyamplung seeds reach 40-70%. Fats and oils can be obtained from the extraction of animal or plant tissue in three ways, namely rendering, pressing or with a solvent. Two common ways in which mechanical presses hydraulic presses (hydraulic pressing) and pressing threaded (screw pressing). Screw pressing need pre-treatment consists of the sorting process and heating. The object of this research is to study the effect of temperature, speed and time of heating turn the screw against nyamplung seed oil yield. Nyamplung seeds are cleaned of feces and then heated with variable temperature 60 ˚C C, 70 ˚C C, 80 ˚C C and variable time of 15 minutes, 30 minutes and 45 minutes. Based on observations made variable 9 to obtain the highest percentage of oil rendemen 47.97% at variable 9 with heating temperature of 80 ˚C for 45 minutes. Water levels nyamplung seed oil be obtained between 0.2 to 1.2%. Nyamplung seed oil density obtained between 0.918 to 0.979 g / ml. Nyamplung seed oil viscosity obtained between 15.01 to 17.24 cp. Nyamplung seed oil acid number obtained between 6.18 to 13.23. Nyamplung seed oil saponification numbers obtained between 146.48 to 194.98. Keywords: Nyamplung, nyamplung seed oil, Screw pressing
