Abstract

Today, packaging industries have an important meaning in supporting other industries. Packaging is considered as an attempt to win the competition. Packaging made of plastic is very dominating right now. Knowing that the market is widely open, in order to win the competition every plastic packaging manufacturers have to increase their operational performance. The operational of every manufacturers is very dependent to their machine. To keep the machine operates optimally, they have to be supported by a good maintenance performance too. This research is designed to test the effect of maintenance performance to the operational performance. Besides, in order to measure the maintenance performance this research will using Overall Equipment Effectiveness will analized as the standard for manufacturers in Indonesia. The objects of this research is plastic packaging manufacturers in Semarang. The population that is surveyed is 47 respondends. The result of the survey analyzed with simple linear regression using SPSS. The result shows that maintenance performance have positive and significant influence to operational performance. Determinant coefficient (R2) shows 0,296 which mean the model could clarify 29,6% of operational performance. Besides, the Overall Equipment Effectiveness from plastic packaging manufacturers at Semarang show 58,64% and it’s standarized that a good Overall Equipment Effectiveness is 74,52%.
