Abstract

ABSTRACT The Research in river bed erosion of a bend in the channel is rarely being done. Usually the practitioners only strive to handle damage that happened around in the river bend as effect of high stream and speed of boisterous stream. And many result of done repair, not go along way because sliding to horizontal direction is safe but base erosion of channel isn’t safe. To estimate erosion or sliding of steeply sloping riverbank on the bend in river or channel, so it was done by attempt or research about deepness level of erosion that happen on bend area. To know the existing occurrence was used by making river physical model for can be done by research in laboratory. This research model was done by examination with several of highly of stream level and time of streaming and also speed of stream. The result of research show highly of stream is h = 4,65 cm deepness of erosion is 4,43cm for the radius at Rc = 50 cm. While at the radius of Rc = 75 cm deepness of erosion is equal to 3,16 cm at stream level of h = 3,08 cm at the height of big stream, it was not damage for base channel, but sliding of steeply sloping riverbank of channel that horizontal direction was reach to 8 cm in exterior bend area. Sediment in the bend area was reach thick to1,02 cm, sediment in the final bend was happened to make a move of 20 cm to 80 cm up at downstream. The solution of a bend of 90o for the radius of Rc = 50 cm Y lab. eq. = 0,430419 h – 0,096959 v + 0,733925 and Rc = 75 cm. Y lab. eq = 0,213259 h – 0,10421 v + 1,567105.
