Abstract
For most industrial (goods producing industry) companies, the manufacturing operation is the largest, most complex and the most difficult to manage of the firm. The formation of comprehensive strategic decision making in manufacturing affects and affected by many organizational groups inside and outside the firm. These are mainly business units, other function of the firm, competitors and the various external markets. It can be observed that in developing a methodological for manufacturing strategic decision making, manufacturing has interact with all the managerial functions of the firm: technology, procurement, finance, marketing, etc. Cooperation and consistency of overall objective is the key of success in these interactions. The methodology may use nine strategic categories : facilities, capacity, vertical integration, process technology, product scope and introduction of new product, human resources, quality management, manufacturing organizationand managerial infrastructure and supplier relations. The four performance measures presentedat the outset to address the objective manufacturing strategic decision : cost, delivery, quality and flexibility.
