ANALISIS WILLINGNESS TO PAY PENGELOLAAN SAMPAH TERPADU DI KECAMATAN SEMARANG BARAT KOTA SEMARANG

Abstract

The amount of waste in Kota Semarang is increasingly year by year. Conventional waste management that had been existed cannot decrease the amount of waste. Sooner or later the harmful effect will happen, especially for the environment and the society. Integrated waste management is the alternative way for managing the waste in the urban. It would be better if the integrated waste management applied sooner in effort to environment conservation especially in Kecamatan Semarang Barat, which has the biggest contribution of waste production in Kota Semarang. The problem arises because the government has a financial limitation in facilitating the integrated waste management. Participation and society donation are expected to help the government applying the integrated waste management. This research is made to showing the society’s willingness to pay in managing the integrated waste management, to estimating the amount of money that has to be paid by the society in managing the integrated waste management and to analyzing the social-economic characteristic factors that influenced the amount of payment. This research conducted by taking the primary data throughout the questioner toward 120 people from the prosper family in Kecamatan Semarang Barat as the respondents. Samples pulling method that has been used is accidental sampling method. Analysis method used is the descriptive statistics, CVM, and tobit regression. This research’s result shows that 36 respondents claimed they are not willing to pay and the 84 respondents willing to pay. The average amount that the society agreed to pay is Rp 60.000,00. Total value of WTP is Rp 2.130.540,00. Education level and family income variables positively and significantly influenced toward the amount of society willingness to pay in Kecamatan Semarang Barat. Genders, ages, family members and jobs are not significantly influenced toward the society’s willingness to pay.
