Abstract

Inter-Region income inequality is one of complex problem in deveploping country. Semarang regency has a high level of inequality. It is proved by Gini Index of Semarang regency from 2005-2012. This study aims to analyze the level of inequalty in the inter-district in Semarang regency and to find out the potential sector in Semarang regency. The analysis method that used in this study is analysis of Williamson index and Entropi Theil index to measure income inequality inter-region, Location Quotient analysis (LQ) and shift share analysis to find out potential sectors in Semarang regency. To group each region based on economic growth and income percapita is used Typology Klassen analysis. The result of this study shows that agriculture sector is the main sector that influence economic growth in Semarang regency. Income equality in Semarang regency on 2005 until 2012 is so high. The result of Williamson indeks and Entropi Theil indeks shows that index number is more than 0,5. Based on these findings, suggestions that can be delivered is to implement development policies that prioritize the inter-districts the are still relatively backward region without ignoring the inter-districts that are already developed and grown rapidly and develop the potential sectors in each regions in order to improve the economic growth in Semarang regency.
