Abstract

This thesisis entitled Information Searching BehaviourOfLibrary Science Students, Faculty Of Humanities,Diponegoro University. The purposeof thisstudywas to determine thestage ofinformation searching behaviour was done by students of Library Science, informationresources which used by them, anddifferences ininformationsearchingbehaviourof Library Sciencestudentclass of 2011, 2012, 2013. The theory ofinformationsearchingbehaviourused inthis studyisthe theory ofinformation-searching behaviourbyDavidElliswithqualitativeandcase study method. The results ofthe studythat has beendone showsthat, (1) stagesof informationsearchingbehaviourperformedbystudentsstarted by startingby setting upa smallnote, chainingbyseekinformationthroughthe bibliography, browsingbyusing theGoogle search engineandthe use ofjournals, ebooksandspecificdomains, differentiatingby selectingthe keywordsof an information, monitoringby using theupdatest information, extractingbysummarizestheuse ofquotationsandextracting the sub-chapterin the book, verifyingtodetermine thequality of theinformationbased onaccurate, relevant, andthe actual through endingphase, preparedhardfile and softfile by the papers form; (2) information resourcesused by the studenttoseek forinformationthe library(faculty libraryandcollegelibrary) andthe internetby usingsearch engines; and (3) differences ininformationsearch behaviour is onstudentclass of 2011 throughstages: starting, browsing, monitoring, extracting, verifying, andendingwithout getting by chaining process. While thestudents of2012 and2013getting by allstages ofthe processby startingup to the endingwithoutskippinganother stage
