Abstract

Laptop is more and more used, change the use of desktop computer (PC). Some may only be limited to operate the laptop only. If there are problems, especially the hardware, the laptop must be brought to technician. The study aims to create a detection expert system application laptop troubleshooting using the web based case based reasoning approach which applied k-Nearest Neighbor algoritm (k-NN). Methods Case Based Reasoning (CBR) consists of four stages : Retrieving, Reusing, Revising and Retaining. In this study, Retrieving is compiled from the experience of the type of laptop damage and symptoms. Reusing, reuse problem solution obtained from the previous case. Revising, the system adapts the case in retrieving and adapted to user needs based on values defined. The system will adapt to the type of damage and the symptoms that arise with new cases. Retaining this stage there is a process of incorporation of new cases and the solutions to correct existing knowledge. Then do the process of maintaining the results by storing the entire solution is generated into the database, the solutions that have been saved will be considered as a knowledge- base to solve the problems that will come. The study produced system that can help users to solve the problem on the laptop and can be accessed in a web form.
