Abstract

Agriculture of aloe vera centered on Pontianak City. Aloe vera is a superior commodity in West Borneo and horticulture crops that are very potential to be developed, fill the market opportunities not only in domestic but also in international. These condition encourage the farmers to increase their production with the aim of getting maximum profit, however there are challenges to be faced by farmers such as condition of limited financial capital, high price of production input from time to time, the price of aloe vera’s leaves is erratic, and difficulty of marketing process. The aim of this research is to identify the effect of production inputs to business profits level and condition business scale of aloe vera in Pontianak City. This research use primary data obtained by direct interview to the respondents with questionnaire. Respondents are all of the farmers of aloe vera as many as 49 aloe vera farmers in Pontianak City. Analysis model that used is Cobb-Douglas profit function with Method of Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) processed by using IBM SPSS Statistic version 20 program. Results showed that from the five independent variables only four variables are significant influence the level of aloe vera farmer’s profit, that are cost of rent area, cost of equipment , cost of seeds, and cost of labor, whereas not significant are cost of fertilizer. The result of regression analysis showed that level of farm profit can be explained by the factors of production inputs, R2 values is 0.911, while the remaining 0.089 can be explained by other variables not included in this research analysis model. Return to scale are formed in the aloe vera farm in Pontianak is acended scale of business or Decreasing Return to Scale (DRS)
