Abstract
Succession and changing of the leadership due to the transfer of the new leader from other branches of the company cannot be avoided. It can cause up and down performance of the staff. Such situation is crucial in maintaining the corporate productivity. This study was aimed at analyzing the effect of leadership and organizational climate on the performance of employees at PT. Jasa Raharja (Limited Company), Central Java Branch. There are two independent variables, namely leadership and organizational climate, and one dependent variable, i.e. the performance of employees. In relation to the performance of employees, this study focused on the fact that the frequent transfer of leadership occurred at PT. Jasa Raharja (Limited Company), Central Java Branch was assumed as the cause of the organizational climate problem. Succession and changing policies had forced employees to adapt the change, both with the leaders and the changing policies. Not only the employees but also the leaders had to adapt to the new organizational environment. Both parties must mutually adapt to create a good organizational climate. In addition, it was assumed that there was dissatisfaction of employees who were unfairly treated by their leaders. If the leaders and employees did not trust each other, it would be difficult to build a conducive organizational climate. The data in this study were collected through questionnaires distributed to 52 employees of PT. Jasa Raharja (Limited Company) Central Java Branch as the study sample. The data analysis methods applied in this study were qualitative and quantitative analyses such as index variable, validity-and-reliability test, classic-assumption test, multiple linear-regression analysis, coefficient of determination, and the F-test and t-test. Based on the data analyses, the results showed that the leadership variable had positive impact as well as having the significant influence on the employee performance. Additionally, organizational climate also had a positive and significant effect on employees’ performance
