Abstract

Indonesian property companies know the market situation of a large city that is in line with economic growth. In Semarang, vertical residential development is expected to grow to 16 apartment buildings and condotels until 2015. Projected housing needs in Semarang to 2015 reached 32 138 units, with a projected 13 510 residential for middle-high. The apartment has a target market of middle-high economic class. Its construction is always focusing on excellence facility, and to find thermal comfort developers typically rely on air conditioning as artificial air conditioning role. The use of AC line with the consumption of electrical energy, greater as the amount of space that does not receive daylight. This would lead to large energy consumption with load electricity used for air conditioning and lighting. The principles of bioclimatic architecture is to utilize the climate and natural conditions that exist at the site to support the performance of the buildings. For example: by designing a wider aperture and the air can be passed to provide flexibility of air coming into the room; using good material as solar thermal insulator, and design the path of light entering into the building (void). Keyword: bioclimatic, lighting, residential
