ANALISIS FAKTOR-FAKTOR YANG MEMPENGARUHI PREFERENSI SISWA DALAM MEMILIH SMPN 37 SEMARANG

Abstract

Pendidikan jenjang SMP di Kota Semarang belum merata. Terdapat sekolah yang kelebihan siswa, namun juga terdapat yang kekurangan siswa. Salah satu terjadinya kondisi ini adalah semakin meningkatnya persaingan jenjang SMP. SMPN 37 Semarang termasuk sekolahan yang memiliki jumlah penerimaan siswa terus meningkat selama kurun waktu tahun ajaran 2008/2009 sampai 2010/2011, meskipun kondisi pendidikan serta sarana prasarana tidak jauh berbeda dengan sekolah lain. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan secara komprehensif mengenai faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi preferensi siswa dalam memilih SMPN 37 Semarang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan restropektif. Informan adalah siswa dan orangtua siswa SMPN 37 Semarang, kepala sekolah dan guru SMPN 37 Semarang, serta Seksi Seksi SMP serta Seksi Analisa dan Pengembangan Dinas Pendidikan Kota Semarang. Data diperoleh menggunakan wawancara, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan analisis kualitatif. Hasil penelitian adalah faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi preferensi siswa dalam memilih SMPN 37 Semarang terdiri dari: (1) Kultural: Pendidikan berpengaruh terhdap status sosial individu; (2) Politik: UU RI No. 20 Tahun 2003, PP RI No. 19 Tahun 2005, Permendiknas RI No. 22 Tahun 2006, Permendiknas RI No. 20 Tahun 2007, Permendiknas RI No. 19 Tahun 2007; (3) Ekonomi & teknologi: globalisasi dan perkembangan iptek; (4) Kompetitif sumber daya & prasana: kuantitas & kualitas tenaga pengajar, serta kuantitas & kualitas sarana prasarana pendidikan; (5) Produk: program pendidikan di SMPN 37 Semarang tidak jauh berbeda dengan pendidikan SMP lainnya, serta memiliki augmented product (seni batik sebagai ekstrakurikuler); (6) Lokasi: lokasi cukup strategi, hubungan antar individu cukup baik & akrab, serta suhu sekolah relatif panas sehingga mengurangi kenyamanan belajar; (7) Orang: kuantitas dan kualitas tenaga pengajar cukup memadai, cukup sesuai dengan peraturan yang berlaku; (8) Bukti fisik: ruang belajar, ruang belajar lainnya, ruang penunjang, ruang kepala sekolah/staf/guru, lapangan olahraga & upacara, serta perpustakan memiliki kondisi yang baik; (9) Proses: proses penerimaan siswa baru dan pelayanannya cukup baik, proses belajar mengajar relatif baik; (10) Faktor sosial: rekomendasi orang berpengaruh, bertemu dengan teman-teman lama; (11) Faktor personal: kebutuhan dan keinginan sekolah di SMPN 37 Semarang; (12) Faktor psikologi: merasa mampu bisa diterima. Proses pengambilan keputusan siswa dalam memilih SMPN 37 Semarang sebagai sekolah terdiri dari empat tahap, yaitu (1) Menganalisis kebutuhan dan keinginan: para siswa tersebut menilai bahwa sekolah di SMP merupakan suatu kebutuhan untuk melanjutkan jenjang pendidikan ke tingkat yang lebih tinggi selepas pendidikan SD. Namun seiring dengan itu, sekolah di SMPN 37 Semarang menjadi suatu keinginan; (2) Pencarian informasi dan penelitian sumber-sumber: para siswa tersebut mencari informasi-informasi untuk mengetahui lebih banyak tentang SMPN 37 Semarang; (3) Penilaian dan seleksi terhadap alternatif sekolah: calon siswa juga mencari informasi mengenai sekolah lain yang dianggap “setara”. Setelah itu calon siswa mulai melakukan perbandingan antar sekolah yang “diminati”; dan (4) Keputusan memilih SMPN 37 Semarang sebagai sekolah: keputusan ini diambil karena berdasarkan pertimbangan-pertimbangan yang sudah dilakukan, SMPN 37 dianggap yang paling sesuai dengan sumber daya yang dimiliki, sehingga realistis untuk dicapai Kata kunci: Faktor preferensi, keputusan memilih sekolah, siswa SMP education has not been evenly distributed in the city of Semarang. Data obtained using interviews, then analyzed using qualitative analysis. Student decision-making process in choosing a school SMPN 37 Semarang consists of four stages, namely (1) Analyze the needs and desires: the student is considered that in junior high school is a need for continuing education to a higher level of education after elementary school.
