ABSTRACT The Quality Control (QC) Laboratory at the Concentrating Division of PT. Freeport Indonesia is a laboratory that operates in the field of analysis on metals such as copper (Cu), gold (Au), silver (Ag) and so on. The hazardous and toxic materials used are concentrated chloride acid, perchlorate acid and concentrated nitrate acid. The measurement of indoor air quality aims to measure the gas concentration resulted from metal analysis processes and is needed to determined the health hazards prevention for workers as well as environment. The indoor air quality measurement is done by using multi-gas detectors. The measurement result shows that there are some concentrations of gases such as SO2 and CO that do not comply the conditions stated at the Ministerial Decree of Manpower and Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia Number Per. 13/MEN/X/2001 on the Threshold Values of Physical and Chemical Factors at Workplace. The preventive actions to keep workers' health and safety are done based on control hierarchy, i.e. through engineering actions, administration and the use of proper personal protection equipments (PPE).
