Abstract
Background. Anxiety is one of mental disorder that could happened in female prisoners. Anxiety raise as the effect of punishment received from the court because of breaking the law, beside stigma from the society. However, the program of psychiatric nursing services in correctional facilities such prison is being less consideration. The goal. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of logotherapy for female prisoners in female prison of Semarang. Method. The research method was quasi experimental pre-post test with control group. The data was gathered at before and after giving logotherapy to female prisoners. The amount of samples were 58 respondents which were 29 respondents of intervention group and 29 respondents of control group and determined by total sampling method. The research instrument was a questionnaire consisted of 24 questions of Likert scale statement which were modified from the research before and Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale. Result. The result of this study showed that the level of anxiety in the intervention group was decreased significantly with p-value= 0,022; α= 0,05 from self evaluation, and p-value= 0,022; α= 0,05 from the observation. Prison as one type of correctional facilities is a suitable place in community setting to improve specialist nursing psychotherapy like Logotherapy. So that, Logotherapy is recommended to be accomplished as mental health service among prisoners in correctional facilities such prison. Key words: anxiety, female prisoners, logotherapy
