Abstract

Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare Mill.) has many advantages because the essential oil’s was used in pharmacy, cosmetic and medicinal herbs. In pharmacy, the essential oil of Fennel many usage as a raw material in telon oil’s industry. Quality of essential oil and growth of Fennel were influenced by the cultivation and habitat. The purpose of this research was to examine the yield of essential oil and the growth of Fennel and to know presentase of macro nutrient of fennel planting area at Sumowono, Semarang Residence and Wates, Salatiga City. Sampling each area had taken three plants with three replications. Essential oil destilation done through water destilation by using stahl destilator. The observation of fennel growth was done by measured of diameter organ, leaves and fruit oil cells. Diameter organ were measured by using kaliper, while oil cells of leaves and fruit were measured by using micrometer. Data was analyzed by Independent T – Test at 5 % significance level. The results showed that there were no significant difference between the yield of essential oil, diameter organ and leaves and fruit oil cells measurement of fennel in Sumowono and Wates area. The yield of essential oils in seed and leaves from Sumowono area were 0,02 % and 3,1 %. Diameter of roots, stems, flowers, fruits and seed replicated were 12,5 mm; 15,83 mm; 1,22 mm; 2,29 mm and 1,84 mm. Measurement of oil cell in fruit : 2,59 µm, while in leaves stalk : 49,99 µm. The yield of essential iol in seed and leaves from Wates area were 0,008 % and 3,567 %. Diameter of roots, stems, flowers, fruits and seed replicated were 11,2 mm; 14 mm, 1,27 mm; 1,87 mm and 2,12 mm. Measurement of oil cell in fruit of fennel : 2,23 µm, while in leaves stalk : 36,5 µm.
