Abstract

Indonesia consists of chain of islands ample with myriad ethnic groups and cultures. Each of ethnic group in Indonesia creates, spreads and inherits its culture to the next generation. Diversity in ethnic groups and cultures, basically creates one culture and gives a special and unique identity as the main capital for Indonesian culture. Culture diversity on each ethnic group in Indonesia shows the richness of Indonesian culture. Every region or district in Indonesia has its own special cultural pattern. As the effort to develop the regional culture as the root of national culture, the Indonesian government has given a foundation as laid down in Article 32 of 1945 Constitution saying “Government promotes Indonesian National Culture”.
