Abstract
The aim of this research is want to know the difference of human information behavior refer to their learning style between the students of the science and the social program of high school The method used is quantitative study, with causal comparative type, and statistical analysis MANOVA (Multivariat Analysis of Variance). This research used questionaries as collecting document method. The population are all of the students from State Senior High School 6 (SMA Negeri 6) Semarang, who stayed at XI class, with the number of student 336. Samples were taken by cluster random sampling with the number of 25 % from population. In this research, human information behavior had been observed from three different aspects, they are information needs, information activity that including information seeking behavior and information searching behavior, and also human information use behavior. In addition, the learning style of the students had been observed by the dimension of cognitive style, which are the individual styles of processing the information, that divide into two various styles, serials and holistic. The results is there is no significance difference between science program and social program students, but there are differences in individual information searching behaviour appropriate with their characteristics in processing information which are implemented in their learning style.
