Abstract
xii ABSTRACT Reclamation efforts in mining activities that include in the area of Forestry Culture lead reclamation efforts to following the rules that issued by the Ministry of Forestry which requires the planting of local species. PT. Singlurus Pratama (SGP), which has License Mining that overlap with the area of Forestry Culture shall follow the rules. Information of local tree species that can be used for revegetation of post-coal mining site has not been widely available so that this research is needed. This research aimed to inventory the fast-growing local trees species that potential for revegetation of post-coal mining site in PT. SGP, East Kalimantan. Identification of local trees species that grow naturally in the forest area around the mine site was by vegetation analysis and calculate the important value index (IVI) of each species found, while trees species selection for revegetation was by scoring to seven species selection criterias i.e. habitus, habitat, regeneration ability, economical value, ecological value, symbiosis and sprout ability. The data of soil condition from area around the mine site and reclamation area was achieved by soil sample analysis. Revegetation plan was prepared by considering the data field condition before it is mined and data field conditions after reclamation. The results of research found 34 species of trees, 31 species of sapling and 17 species of seedling that occured naturally in the forest area around the mine site. Based on the scoring of the seven criteria for species selection, there were 10 species of local trees that potential for revegetation of post-coal mining in PT. SGP i.e. Fordia splendidissima (parang-parang), Ficus sp. (ara), Litsea sp. (medang), Macaranga hypoleuca (mahang), Syzygium sp. (jambu-jambu) , Archidendron microcarpum (jaring hutan), Alstonia sp. (pulai), Cratoxylum sumatranum (mentialing), Homalanthus populneus (kelebutag), and Vernonia arborea (merembung). Planting the native trees species to revegetation of post- coal mining site was suggested by considering the important aspects in the nursery stage, land preparation, planting and maintenance of the plants. Keywords: revegetation, post-coal mining; District Samboja Kutai Kartanegara regency.
