Abstract

ABSTRACT Industry activity gives impacts on the environment both positive and negative. The environmental impact on Coconut shell Powder Manufacturing is approached by applying ekoefisiensi in towards green industries in which this research aims to identify the stages of the process inefficient and to find alternative corrective actions. The method used in this study was intended to observe the participant observation, listening and study as much as the object of research activity The results show the efficiency of the production process has amounted to 94.448%. This is different from the preliminary data presented by the industry at 75%. Stage of the process was inefficient sorting process to produce feedstock NPO (Non-Product Output), the largest in the amount of 3.91% in the form of waste. Other NPOs in the form of 1.63% and 0.01% as trevally flour out of specification. The composition of the waste is composed of coconut fibers, plastic and raffia are carried in packaging materials. Corrective actions to improve efficiency and provide a positive value for the economy and the environment, selected from the input of owners and workers in the industry. The actions was done by selling waste in the form of coconut fibers to a third party that is in the agricultural sector, selling “selar” to tile industry, and capture and reuse flour out of specification as a mixture of products. It is a form of mutually beneficial symbiosis that the industry in order to become part of the development of green industries and also reduce environmental impact.
