Abstract

Background: DHF still causes public health problem with its social and economical impact. This is because DHF is a disease with high rate of morbidity and mortality especially in Ngaliyan district, city of Semarang. Therefore it is needed to do surveillance and distribution mapping of DHF case as well as doing spatial and temporal analysis to help directing the intervention within the context of prevention of the disease. Aim: To find out the spatial and temporal distribution of DHF cases in Ngaliyan sub district. Methods: It is an exsplorative research using both primary and secondary data. Primary data was the coordinate of patient’s residence which was obtained by the GPS. Secondary data were obtained from DKK Semarang, BMKG Kota Semarang, dan Bappeda Kota Semarang. Data were processed and analyzed by using Microsoft Excel 2007 and ArcGis 9.2 Results: Subjects of research were 39 DHF patients living in Ngaliyan district between January to May 20012. It consisted of 21 men and 18 women. Kalipancur sub district is the area with hghest prevalance of DHF (38.46%). March is the month where DHF prevalance is at its highest (33,33%). The age of subjects ranged between 5 months old to 36 years old with the highest prevalance is at the age group of 5-14 years old. Conclusion: There is a relationship between DHF prevalance and population density, moreover we found some grouping of DHF cases in area with high people density. However there is no relationship between DHF prevalance and rainfall rate, mean temperature, air humidity and population density. Prevention of DHF shall be focussed on environmental sanitation. Keywords: DHF, spasiotemporal analysis, GIS
