PENGARUH PEMBERIAN PAMFLET TERHADAP TINGKAT PENGETAHUAN IBU HAMIL MENGENAI INISIASI MENYUSU DINI

Abstract

Background The infant mortality rate is one indicator of community health status. Based on data from Demographic and Health Survey in 2007 found infant mortality rate in Indonesia is 35 per 1,000 live births. Pediatric Association of Indonesia (IDAI) recorded no less than 10 infants and 20 children under five die every hour in Indonesia. High infant mortality rate is due to several factors such as sepsis and hypothermia.. Aim To know whether giving effect pamphlets on maternal knowledge level of the Early Initiation of Breastfeeding, and the difference in the level of knowledge of pregnant women who were not given a pamphlet and given a pamphlet. Methods This was a experimental research. Research data in the form of primary data obtained through questionnaires by pregnant women with gestational age greater than or equal to 28 weeks of pregnancy to check on the health center Ngesrep and Halmahera in March-June 2012. Data collected by consecutive sampling method. Data described in the form of tables and figures. Data analysis was performed using SPSS with different paired t test with Mann Whitney Test as alternative. Results There were significant differences in knowledge levels in pregnant women who were not given a pamphlet and a pamphlet (p = 0.023)..
