Abstract
Background Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is one of public health problems in Indonesia that the number of patients is likely to increase and spread more widely. Treatment of DHF patients needs a long time and relatively high cost. The high number of hospitalization rate due to DHF has been a substantial burden. Aim To determine the factors that influence the length of stay of DHF patients. Methods This study was an analytic observational with cross-sectional design. The sample in this study were 122 DHF patients who received inpatient services at Dr Kariadi General Hospital Semarang. The data that were extracted from medical records were age, sex, platelet count, hematocrit, and leukocyte count. Statistical tests were done with the chi-square and fisher test. Results There was significant effects between platelet count (p=0,036) and leukocyte count (p=0,003) to length of stay. There was no significant effects between age (p=0,162), gender (p=0,169), and hematocrit (p=0,697) to length of stay. Conclusion There are significant effects between platelet count and leukocyte count to length of stay of DHF patients. There are no significant effects between age, gender, and hematocrit to length of stay of DHF patients. Key Words: DHF, length of stay, age, gender, platelet count, hematocrit, leukocyte count
