Background Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) is a hepatic manifestation of Metabolic Syndrome (MS). Recently, the prevalence of NAFLD in developed and developing countries were increased, related to the increasing prevalence of MS. Aim to know the clinical spectrum of NAFLD in MS, and the association between the amount of MS components disturbed with the degree of fatty liver by ultrasonography (USG). Methods Observational study, cross sectional design from secondary data of NAFLD patients with MS in Dr. Kariadi general hospital, Semarang during 2009- 2010. Descriptive data of clinical spectrum, laboratory, and USG represented by range, mean + SD, median, and proportion. Chi-square test with p< 0.05 were used to statistical analysis the association between MS components and the degree of fatty liver by USG. Statistical analyze were conducted by SPSS 15 computer program. Results Thirty-six NAFLD patients with MS were included in this study. Male to female ratio were 2:1. The range of age were 23-74 year, the mean + SD were 45.97 + 11.19 year, and the median was 48 year. Mostly patients were presented with classical symptoms of NAFLD. The proportion of obesity was 91.67%, hypertriglyserid was 91.67%, hypertension was 61.11%, and DM was 30.56%. the association between MS components disturbed and the degree of fatty liver by USG were not statistically significant (p=0.214). Conclusions The most clinical manifestations of MS in NAFLD patients were obesity, hypertriglyserid, hypertension and DM. No association between MS components disturbed and the degree of fatty liver by USG. Key words : Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, Metabolic Syndrome
