This is what is done by the Bureau of Public Relations Regional Secretariat Semarang City Government as a strategy to create a positive image in the community. Media Relations is part of the external public relations that foster and develop good relations with the mass media as a means of communication between the organization and the public in order to achieve organizational goals (Iriantara, 2005:32). The purpose of this study conducted to determine the extent and management of media relations activities conducted by the Bureau of Local Government Relations Secretariat of Semarang to the mass media in terms of coverage and news about the City of Semarang. In the course of media relations efforts conducted by the Bureau of Public Relations Regional Secretariat Semarang City Government in managing media relations activities and one of the tasks that must be done is to establish a relationship with journalists. Confidence of journalists is one of the assets of the most important public relations practitioners. Without rapport with the media could be one of PR activities will not achieve its goals.
