Abstract

Background. Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory disease of sebaceous follicles are almost 80-100% of adolescents. Highest incidence at age 14-17 years for women. The degree of acne is divided into mild, moderate and severe. Position of facial skin care in relation with acne can be the cause, prevention and treatment. Facial skin care consists of cleaning, thinning, moisturizer, powder and sun protector and analyzed relation facial skin care with acne vulgaris. Aim. Determine the relation of facial skin care (cleaning, thinning, moisturizer, powder and protective use (sunscreen) with Acne vulgaris. Methods. This study is an observational research with cross sectional design of the study population was SMA / MA / SMK city of Semarang. The selection of the sample with a random cluster sampling method obtained 64 respondents who fit the inclusion criteria of the four high school / vocational school with an age range 15-17 years. The data is primary data obtained from questionnaires. Test analysis used chi square and fisher. Results. Fisher test is obtained from a meaningful relationship with the occurrence frequency of cleaning face with acne vulgaris mild+moderate and severe (p = 1.000). There was no significant relationship between the use of facial cleansers with acne vulgaris mild+moderate and severe (p = 1.000). There was no significant relationship between facial thinning with acne vulgaris mild+moderate and severe (p = 1.000). There was no significant relationship between facial moisturizer with acne vulgaris mild+moderate and severe (p = 0.502). There is a significant relationship between the use of compact powder with acne vulgaris mild+moderate and severe (p = 0.043). There was no significant relationship between the sun protector with acne vulgaris mild+moderate and severe (p = 1.000). Conclusion. There was no relationship between the frequency of cleaning the face> 3 times, types of cleaning, thinning, moisturizer and sun protector with acne vulgaris. There is a significant association between the use of compact powder with the acne vulgaris mild+moderate and severe. Key Words. Acne vulgaris, facial skin care
