Abstract

Objectives To determine the effect of delivery pamphlet on knowledge level and anxiety level of pregnant women. Methods This was an experimental pre test and post test design study. Data collected with self administered questionnaire. Sixty pregnant women with pregnancy ≥ 28 weeks that fulfilled inclusion criteria and had antenatal care consultation in Halmahera and Ngesrep primary care from April to June 2011 became sample in this research. Sample was grouped into control group (n=30) and experimental group (n=30). Experimental group were given a pamphlet and asked to read, while control group not given a pamphlet. All samples completed two questionnaires, pre test questionnaire and post test one week after pre test. The data described in tables and graphics and then analyzed by SPSS by using pair t test with alternative Wilcoxon test, and independent t test with alternative Mann Whitney. Result There was significant differences on knowledge level before and after treatment. levels in the control group, and significant differences in the treatment (p=0,000), but there was no significant differences between control and experimental group (p = 0,413). There was significant differences in levels of anxiety in experimental group before and after treatment (p=0,001), and significant differences between control and experimental group post test (p=0,014). Conclusion Delivery pamphlet is able to increasing knowledge and decreasing anxiety of pregnant women. Keyword delivery pamphlet, knowledge level, anxiety level, pregnant women
