Abstract

Microwave Assisted Extraction is a method of a substance from mixture with the distribution of solutes between two solvents that can not be mixed with the distribution of a solute from one solvent to another solvent with the use of high frequency electromagnetic wave (Super High Frequency, SHF), is over 3GHz (3x109 Hz). Heating with microwaves has advantages, namely heating more evenly because it is not transferring heat from the outside but generate heat from within the material. Can also be selectively heating means dependent on the dielectric properties. This will save energy for heating. This research using microwave to extract ginger oil of raw materials ginger. Microwave Assisted Extraction is methode for extracting essential oils in the ingredients. This technique can be applied both in the solid phase liquid solutes are separated solids contained. Phase solid liquidextraction process is based on the principle differencein the abilityto absorb microwave energy at compound which is contained in plant material. Variable used is a variation of addition of solvent and temperature. Function of solvent is to dissolve the components of ginger oil is contained and then vaporize along with the steam. After the mixture was separated between oil and water using separator funnel. From the results of our analysis that ginger oil has a good quality lab. It is seen from the density with variations in addition of solvent and temperature (0,8763 gr/ml; 0,8801 gr/ml), the refractive index (1,489; 1,4874), acid number (1,24; 1,26) and saponification (14,1; 14,6) in the range of Essential Oil Association. Sucrose content – average with variations in addition of solvent 0,86% ginger oil and temperature 0,79% ginger oil.
