Abstract
Introduction : There are high incidence of superficial partial thickness burn in daily living. For many reasons, people prefer to use self-medication. Honey has been used as medicine for its antimicrobial effect, anti inflammation effect, and increase fibroblastic and angioblastic. Researches showed that honey can accelerate wound care with minimum scar. Methods : This research used consecutive design with control group. Ten lesions with an area of at least 25cm2 devided into two groups then applied the wound dressing. Group M were given honey and Group K were given gauze tulle. Observations of the epithelization process were done every 2 days during the replacement of dressings. The result was analyzed by Mann-Whitney test. Results: Clinically, the epithelization process which applied honey was faster than the gauze tulle one. But statistically there is no significant differences between honey and gauze tulle in superficial partial thickness burn epithelization (p=0,310). Conclusion : Statistically, the use of honey as a primary dressing in superficial partial thickness burn epithelization was not significantly different than the gauze tulle though clinically wound healing process which applied honey was faster than the gauze tulle. Keywords : honey, gauze tulle, epithelization process 3
