Abstract

Basically the job of Public Relations is to maintain good relations between the organization where he worked with the public. This is consistent with the theory proposed by Dr. Rex Harlow (1978) in his book A Model for Public Relations Education for Professional Practices and cited again by Rosady Ruslan, "Public Relations is a management function and support the development of a distinctive, maintenance along the path between the organization and its publics, regarding communication activities, understanding, acceptance, and cooperation. (Rosady Ruslan, 2003 : 16) Public Relations TVKU Semarang serve to streamline the role of Public Relations in TVKU Semarang. Improve the effectiveness of Public Relations done to create a positive image for public companies internal and external public. The purpose of this study was to determine the Public Relations efforts to streamline the role of Public Relations in TVKU Semarang. Type of research is descriptive research, using sources which doubles as a Marketing Communications Public Relations and Marketing TVKU TVKU Semarang Semarang. Sources of data obtained from primary and secondary data. Techniques used in data collection were interviews and literature, while the techniques of data analysis using descriptive analysis. In effecting the role of Public Relations, Public Relations perform some steps, such as the functions of Public Relations, The Role of Public Relations and Strategic Communications Public Relations conducted to enable public. At this stage of the Public Relations function as Communicator, Relationship, Back Up Management and Good Image Maker, Public Relations perform a variety of activities such as the conduct of activities and CSR Press Release, MOU activities, assist in marketing the branding is more to the relationship and media partners and Public Relations Publicity activities for positive image. At this stage the role of Public Relations, Public Relations TVKU Semarang only perform its role as a facilitator of Communication (communication facilitators) and Problem- Solving Process (problem solving process facilitator). At the stage of Communication Strategy undertaken to enable the public Public Relations, Public Relations TVKU Semarang was only involved in Introduction Barriers (constraint recognition). Advice from the author on the study is Improving Function as Public Relations Communicator, Maintaining activity and Back Up Relationship Management, Maintaining his role as a facilitator of Communication and Problem-Solving Process Facilitator, Improving his role as a Communications Technician, Maintaining Communication Strategies in the Introduction Barriers and Improving Communication Strategies in introduction Problems and level involvement Keyword: The role of Public Relations, Public Relations functions and Communication Strategies
