Pemahaman Identitas Dan Gaya Hidup Skateboarder Berdasarkan Pengalaman Mengonsumsi Majalah Happen Skateboarding

Abstract

ABSTRAK Title : Pemahaman Identitas Dan Gaya Hidup Skateboarder Berdasarkan Pengalaman Mengonsumsi Majalah Happen Skateboarding Nama : Febriula Sindisari NIM : D2C 007 031 Dewasa ini, olahraga Skateboard berkembang menjadi salah satu olahraga atau pun permainan yang diminati oleh anak muda. Itu lah mengapa di hampir setiap daerah membentuk komunitas pecinta skateboard. Kehadiran komunitas ini pun menjadi salah satu bentuk subkultur anak muda (youth subculture), di mana kehadiran mereka di masyarakat menjadi kaum minoritas yang tidak jarang pula mendapat stigma negatif dari lingkungan sekitar. Kemunculan majalah Happen Skateboarding sebagai satu-satunya media komunitas skateboard tentunya memiliki peran bagi para penggiat skateboard (skateboarder) dalam memberikan pemahaman mengenai identitas dan gaya hidupnya sebagai skateboarder. Studi ini merupakan penelitian bersifat deskriptif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi yang berupaya memberi penjelasan tentang pengalaman individu dalam mengonsumsi majalah Happen, terkait dengan pemahaman identitas dan gaya hidupnya sebagai skateboarder. Penulis menggunakan kajian Cultural Memory untuk memahami bagaimana memori komunikator yakni individu yang memiliki pengalaman mengonsumsi majalah Happen dan bergabung dalam komunitas skateboard memaknai identitas dan gaya hidupnya sebagai seorang skateboarder. Selain itu, Interpretive Community Theory juga digunakan untuk memahami hasil penafsiran individu mengenai identitas dan gaya hidupnya sebagai skateboarder. Beberapa konsep mengenai identitas, gaya hidup dan fashion juga digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Sebanyak 3 orang skateboarder yang dipilih sebagai narasumber dalam penelitian ini. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pengalaman mengonsumsi majalah Happen tidak hanya memberikan pemahaman identitas dan gaya hidup skateboarder, tetapi juga mengukuhkannya melalui pesan-pesan yang disampaikan. Namun demikian, majalah Happen bukanlah satu-satunya faktor dalam membentuk pemahaman identitas dan gaya hidup skateboarder. Akan tetapi, ada peran komunitas yang turut andil di dalamnya. Implikasi studi ini dalam lingkup teoritis adalah Kajian cultural memory dapat menjadi pijakan untuk bisa mengetahui bagaimana hubungan antara memori sosial seseorang, media dan cara pandang sesorang mengenai sesuatu. Dalam tataran praktis, dari hasil penelitian diketahui komunitas dan media komunitas memiliki kekuatan dalam membentuk pemahaman identitas dan gaya hidup anggota komunitasnya. Sementara, sebagai implikasi sosial, studi ini memberikan sudut pandang lain tentang persoalan subkulutur anak muda (youth subculture). That’s why almost in every district has formed the skateboard community. The presence of this community become the one of the youth subculture form, where their presence in the society become the minorities whose sometime got the negative stigma from the surroundings. The appearance of The Happen Skateboarding Magazine as the one of the skateboarding community media, certainly have a role for a skateboarders in providing an understanding about the their identity and the lifestyle as the skateboarder. This study was a descriptive research with phenomenology approach which an attempt to explaning about the individual experience of consuming The Happen Skateboarding Magazine, related to understanding of identity and lifestyle as the skateboarder. The writer used the cultural memory studies to understanding how the communicator memory that is the individu who have the experience of consuming The Happen Skateboarding Magazine and was joined into the skateboard community interpretating their identity and lifestyle as the skateboarder. Beside that, this research also used the interpretive community theory to understand the interpretation of individual about their identity and lifestyle as the skateboarder. Several concept about identity, lifestyle and fashion also using for this research. There are 3 skateboarders whose have been choose as an informants on this research The results of this research shows that the experience of consuming the happen skateboarding magazine are not only give the understanding of the skateboarder identity and lifestyle, but also confims messages being conveyed. Nevertheles, The Happen Skateboarding Magazine is not the only one factor in shaping the understanding of skateboarder identity and lifestyle, but, there are the community role whose contributed to it. The implications of this study in the theoretical scope are study of cultural memory can be an umbrella to be able to find out how the relationship between a personal social memory, media and the individual perspective about something. In practical terms, from the research results has known the community and community media have the power in forming the understanding of the identity and the lifestyle of the community members. Meanwhile, as the social implications, this study providing an another perspective abouth youth subculture problems. Key words: skateboard, identity, subculture, community media
