Abstract
Objective : Determine the relationship between frequency of antenatal care with the incidence of severe preeclampsia. Method : This was a cross-sectional study using medical records. Subjects were pregnant women with severe preeclampsia (n = 79) and not preeclampsia (n = 66) that age of pregnancy ≥ 37 weeks and childbirth in Kariadi hospital in 2010. Data is collected by consecutive sampling and analysis using the chi square test for categorical variables and unpaired t test for numerical variables. Result : Chi square test for primigravidae variables obtained p-value = 0.602; fischer exact test for the variable history of hypertension obtained p-value = 1.00; unpaired t test for the variables of maternal age obtained p-value = 0.171. The results of the relationship between frequency antenatal care with severe preeclampsia using the chi square test obtained p value = 0.206. Conclusion : No significant association was found between frequency of antenatal care with the incidence of severe preeclampsia. Keywords: frequency antenatal care, severe preeclampsia
