Abstract

Engine test merupakan seperangkat alat motor bakar yang digunakan untuk menentukan karakteristik mesin. Engine test secara umum terdiri dari mesin pembakaran dalam, penyerap (couple) energi/daya, sistem transmisi daya, sistem pendingin, kelistrikan, dan alat ukur. Pengujian dilakukan dengan mesin diesel 1 silinder 8 HP, generator listrik 5000 watt, lampu bohlam, dan motor listrik untuk variasi beban dengan 4 jenis bahan bakar berbeda ( B0, B5, B10, dan B15 ). Secara teoritis, peralatan engine test relatif sederhana dan sangat membantu untuk mengetahui karakteristik mesin dan pengujian jenis bahan bakar baru. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi beban, maka frekuensi semakin rendah, sedangkan konsumsi bahan bakar, efisiensi, dan temperatur gas buang yang keluar dari knalpot meningkat. Dan semakin banyak kandungan bio-etanol dalam bahan bakar, semakin rendah temperatur gas buang yang keluar. Hal ini dapat meningkatkan efisiensi mesin karena suhu efektif pembakaran dapat terjaga. Kata kunci : Engine test, bio-etanol, generator. Enginetestisa set of toolsused to determine the characteristics of the engine. Engine test generally consistsof the internal combustion engine, absorber (couple) energy / power, power transmission system, cooling system, electrical, and measuring instruments. Tests are performed with one-cylinder diesel engine 8 HP, 5000 wattelectric generator, light bulbs, and electric motors for load variations with 4 different type sof fuel (B0, B5, B10, and B15). The oretically, engine test equipmentis relatively simple and is very helpful to know thecharacteristics of the engine and testing of new fuel types. The test results indicate that higher loads, it will produce the lower frequency, but fuel consumption, efficiency, and exhaust gas temperature coming out of the exhaust will be increase. And the more content of bio-ethanol in the fuel, will produce the lower temperature exhaust gas out. It can improve the efficiency of the engine because the effective temperature of combustion can be maintained. Keywords : Engine test, bio-ethanol, generator.
