Abstract

Inequality is a development problem that cannot be eliminated, especially in developing countries. Kudus regency has a high level of inequality compared to other regencyes in Central Java. This study aimed to analyze the level of inequality in the inter-district in Kudus regency. Kudus regency economic growth as a whole continues to decrease. Average economic growth Kudus regency in 2005 until 2009 approximately 3.46%, while the average economic growth of districs in Kudus regency still many who are under 3.46%. The difference of economic growth in the inter-distric Kudus regency indicates a inequality of income Kudus regency. The analytical method used is an analysis index Williamson, Location Quotient (LQ), Shift Share and Typology Klassen. The results of this study explain that : electricity, gas and water supply sectors including sectors that have the potensial to boost economic growth in the inter-district in Kudus regency. Income inequality in the inter-district in Kudus regency in 2005 until 2009 include high (>0.5) that is equal to 0.76. Based on these findings suggestions that can be delivered to reduce the income inequality in the inter-district in Kudus regency is to implement development policies that prioritize the inter-districts the are still relatively backward without ignoring the inter-districts that are already developed and grown rapidly.
