Abstract
Electrical energy is transmitted and distributed from central power plant stations to load centers use transmission and distribution lines. An insulator used to insulate the high-voltage line conductors with the body of the tower or pole body that is connected to ground. In its application in the field, an insulator was affected by environmental conditions such as pollution, humidity and temperature, the ability of an insulator was decrease. This research describes the results of research on the effects of humidity and temperature on the characteristics of leakage current on the insulator made from epoxy resin filled with silica sand and silicone rubber, without coating and with a melamine coating. Leakage current and Surface flashover voltage insulator measurement system refers to the applicable standards. Parameter measurements are used to compare and analyze the leakage current and flashover voltage that occurs on the insulator for various levels of humidity and temperature. From the test results obtained on insulators without coatings BKB variation in voltage of 18.64 kV applied to the highest moisture variations obtained value 0.0521 mA leakage current and flashover voltage of 80.31 kV, while the lowest humidity variation obtained for the leakage current value of 0.0442 mA and flashover voltage of 93.20 kV. While the testing temperature variations, for the highest temperature variations obtained value 0.0442 mA leakage current and flashover voltage of 93.20 kV, while the lowest temperature variations obtained value 0.0453 mA leakage current and flashover voltage of 96.00 kV. While the results of tests on insulator BKB variation with melamine coating on the 18.64 kV voltage applied to the highest moisture variations obtained value 0.0742 mA leakage current and flashover voltage of 88.54 kV, while the lowest humidity variation obtained for the leakage current value of 0.0460 mA and flashover voltage of 82.79 kV. While the testing temperature variations, for the highest temperature variations obtained value 0.0460 mA leakage current and flashover voltage of 88.54 kV, while the lowest temperature variations obtained value 0.0529 mA leakage current and flashover voltage of 96.46 kV. From the test results and analysis of data obtained that the higher the humidity the leakage current that occurs in the insulator will be greater and the value of the lower voltage flashover, while at the testing temperature variation is found that temperature changes do not affect the value of leakage current that occurs in the insulator.
