Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease which caused by the present of insulin abnormality . Diabetes is shown by hyperglycemia to release free radical, superoxide, that induce oxidative stress. This stress will increase mesangial matrix such which make product in glomerulus such fibronectin. Ethanol extract Morinda citrifolia contain fenolat and flavonoid which antioxidant system to block the oxidaulus tive stress. This research purpose is to analyze the effect of Morinda citrifolia ethanol extract to blood glucose, neutrofil count, glomerulus fibronektin diabetes mellitus rats. Method: Using the post test only control group design, Diabetic Sprague Dawley rats induced streptozotocin were divided to 4 grading dose of ethanol extract Morinda group and 1 control group. Each group used 6 male rats, were blood glucose, neutrophil count and glomerular fibronectin. Result: The mean of blood glucose before and after by ectract ethanol treatment morinda is 553,04mg/dl and 408,81mg/dl, respectively. Wilcoxon test shown p=0,000 (<0,05), significant differences. Kruskal Wallis test, the score of neutrofil count was p=0,0574 (>0,05) and fibronectin expression was p=0,000 (<0,05 ) ANOVA test. It means that there is an effect in ethanol extract Morinda citrifolia to glomerulus fibronectin. Conclusion: Ethanol extract Morinda citrifolia can reduce blood glucose, and the fibronectin expression in glomerulus of diabetic rat , but not for neutrophyl count. The lowest fibronectin expression happened on dose 10-20 mg/dl. Key Word: Morinda citrifolia, Blood Glucose, Neutrofil Count, Glomerular Fibronektin
